Published 2026-10-29 · Updated 2026-10-29 · TV & Movies, [skoop.news](https://skoop.news/) ## In brief - High Potential will not air a single new episode in 2026, even though it finished the 2025-2026 season with 16.01 million viewers over 35 days across ABC and streaming. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) - High Potential ranked first among broadcast entertainment series for adults 18-49 and third in total viewers in the 2025-2026 season. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) - Seasons 1 and 2 occupied prominent places on ABC's fall schedule, while Season 3 will not begin until 2027 as part of ABC's midseason programming. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ## A hit with no fall slot High Potential will not air a single new episode in 2026, even though it finished the 2025-2026 season with 16.01 million viewers over 35 days across ABC and streaming. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) If you watch the show, you face the longest hiatus it has had between seasons. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ABC renewed its entire scripted lineup for the 2026-2027 broadcast season but left High Potential off the fall schedule. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) The network has pushed the series to its mid-season schedule. [[2]](https://collider.com/abc-high-potential-season-3-replacement-fox-bones-peacock/) ## The numbers behind the show High Potential ranked first among broadcast entertainment series for adults 18-49 and third in total viewers in the 2025-2026 season. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) It has been a breakout hit for ABC, even earning a coveted spot after the upcoming Super Bowl LXI. [[2]](https://collider.com/abc-high-potential-season-3-replacement-fox-bones-peacock/) The show premiered on ABC on September 17, 2024. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) Season 1 consisted of 13 episodes and Season 2 expanded to 18 episodes. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ## Why ABC moved it Seasons 1 and 2 occupied prominent places on ABC's fall schedule, while Season 3 will not begin until 2027 as part of ABC's midseason programming. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ABC moved the show out of the fall lineup as part of a broader scheduling strategy intended to give it a more consistent run with fewer interruptions. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ABC deliberately held several established shows and new projects until 2027 rather than placing them in the fall schedule. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) The Rookie is being held for midseason, and its spinoff The Rookie: North will debut in 2027. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) Shifting Gears and High Potential are being saved for later in the broadcast season. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ## What ABC is airing instead ABC's fall 2026 schedule includes returning favorites Abbott Elementary, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey's Anatomy. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ABC has launched the comedy-drama R.J. Decker, starring Scott Speedman. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) R.J. Decker has taken over High Potential's typical Tuesday time slot and currently airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. [[1]](https://www.cbr.com/high-potential-season-3-abc-2026-2027-tv-schedule/) ## Season 3 behind the scenes Deadline reported that Nora and Lilla Zuckerman will take over as showrunners in Season 3, replacing Todd Harthan. [[2]](https://collider.com/abc-high-potential-season-3-replacement-fox-bones-peacock/) High Potential is based on the French series HPI: Haut Potentiel Intellectuel and was developed for American audiences by Drew Goddard. [[2]](https://collider.com/abc-high-potential-season-3-replacement-fox-bones-peacock/) Kaitlin Olson plays Morgan Gillory, a single mom with a photographic memory who becomes a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. [[2]](https://collider.com/abc-high-potential-season-3-replacement-fox-bones-peacock/) Morgan is paired with Daniel Sunjata's Detective Adam Karadec, who has a by-the-book approach to crime solving.
