Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander each get 30 years in prison as judge rejects life terms
The former real estate brokers and their brother heard a federal judge call their conduct monstrous, after 11 women told the court what they endured.

The sentence
Three brothers once nicknamed real estate's top team will each spend 30 years in prison. [1][2] Federal Judge Valerie E. Caproni imposed the sentences. [1]
Prosecutors had sought life, and the brothers had asked for 15 years. [1] Caproni called a life sentence draconian, did not believe the brothers were beyond redemption and declined to impose it. [1][3] The 30-year terms will release them around the age most Americans retire. [2]
What the jury found
A Manhattan jury found all three brothers guilty on all counts, with the verdict read on March 9. [1] The 10 counts included conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking by force. [3]
Alon and Tal Alexander were also convicted of sex trafficking of a minor. [1] Alon and Oren Alexander were convicted of aggravated sexual abuse by force or intoxicant and sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person. [1]
Prosecutors showed the jury a video of Oren Alexander raping an incapacitated 17-year-old girl in 2009. [1] Eleven women testified at the trial about being lured, drugged and sexually assaulted. [1]
The allegations and the denials
Prosecutors alleged the brothers used their wealth and influence to lure women and, in some cases, drug, sexually assault and rape them. [1] They said the assaults took place over two decades in locales including the Hamptons and Aspen, Colorado. [2] In a sentencing memo, prosecutors said more than 70 women came forward with allegations of abuse. [3]
Lindsey Acree testified that Tal Alexander and another man raped her at a Hamptons home in 2011. [2] Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa said the brothers worked together to attack women in ways designed to humiliate and degrade them. [3]
The brothers denied drugging or raping anyone, and Oren Alexander said they never trafficked anyone for sex. [2] Defense attorneys asked the judge for the mandatory minimum sentence while the brothers maintained their innocence. [3]
In the courtroom
Eleven victims addressed the court at sentencing for nearly 90 minutes. [1] Maya Miller described her rape by Tal Alexander as having settled into her nervous system. [3] Olivia Lane said she was raped at least a dozen times while terrified and in pain. [3]
Caproni told the brothers their denial was a lie and said she hoped they would feel deeply ashamed. [2] She said it strained credulity that marriage had changed them from sexual predators into model gentlemen. [2] She described them as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and called their conduct monstrous. [3]
Fines, supervision and where they will serve
Alon and Oren Alexander were each ordered to pay $300,000 in fines, and Tal Alexander was ordered to pay $350,000. [3] Oren Alexander was ordered to pay an additional $50,000 for producing child sexual abuse material. [2]
Caproni ordered 10 years of supervised release and sex offender treatment in addition to the 30 years of incarceration. [3] The brothers may not have contact with any child under 18 unless the probation office approves it. [3]
Caproni said she will ask the Bureau of Prisons to consult experts on whether the brothers should be held together, because she believes they are bad influences on one another. [3] She agreed to recommend they be held near Miami, where they grew up and have relatives. [2]
How they got here
After record sales at Douglas Elliman, the brothers started their own firm. [2] Alon Alexander ran the family's private security company. [2]
The brothers have been jailed without bail since their 2024 arrests. [2] They have also faced about two dozen civil lawsuits, including one from Tracy Tutor of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. [1]
What this means for readers
If you followed the case, each brother received 30 years, short of the life terms prosecutors sought and double the 15 years the defense requested. [1] Each will also face 10 years of supervised release and sex offender treatment. [3]
Where they serve is still open. Caproni said she will ask the Bureau of Prisons to consult experts on whether they should be held together, and she agreed to recommend a facility near Miami. [3][2]
